I am Eric Prentis, known at the table as the Detroit Kid. I have been playing and studying poker for more than 25 years, with most of that time focused on tournament play, tactics, and the decisions that matter most when the stakes rise.
I began coaching groups at Mesa Community College in 2006, then expanded to individual coaching for players ready to take their game to the next level. I have also hosted and emceed charity tournaments, written poker articles, and contributed regularly to Stacked Poker magazine.
Based in Arizona, I work with established clients locally and around the world. My approach is direct, practical, and built around the games you actually play. Reach out anytime if you have questions or want to talk through your next step.
Built for the real tournament grind
Coaching starts with your formats, buy-ins, stack depths, and the spots that keep showing up on your schedule.
We look past one-off bad beats to find the recurring decisions that quietly drain your stack and confidence.
Every session ends with a focused adjustment and a study priority you can carry into the next tournament.
What you can expect
Theory matters only when you can apply it under a clock. The goal is a decision process, not a pile of jargon.
The fastest gains often come from the habits you do not notice. We identify them without sugarcoating the work.
Good coaching should make you less dependent on answers and more capable of finding them yourself.
If a spot keeps replaying after a tournament, it is probably worth studying. Start with the decisions that carry the most weight.
